The Round Grand Central Tourbillon offers a pure and breathtaking spectacle, placing the Tourbillon in the center of the watch. Following the recent launch of the Curvex™ Grand Central Tourbillon, Franck Muller presented the Round collection. A case of 46 mm in diameter, reflecting the House's mastery of the watchmaking art in its purest tradition. The Round Grand Central Tourbillon won the Watch of the Year Award in the Tourbillon category by the reknown Italian magazine L’Orologio.
Featuring a self-winding movement, fully manufactured in-house and offering 4 days of power reserve, thanks to an eccentric micro rotor, the timepiece presents a pure and balanced design. Its sobriety combined with its technicality, enhances the timepiece which has all the attributes of a family heritage.
One of the complexities of the collection, lies in the fact that we had to totally rethink the watch in order to redistribute the components around the Tourbillon. To meet this attractive and surprising decentering, Franck Muller designers and watchmakers also had to find an innovative system to display the time in the center of the watch. Thus, they found an innovative way to place the hour and minute hands around the Tourbillon cage, highlighting the beauty of the piece.
Purity and balance are the guiding principles of the collection. The guilloché was specially developed to highlight the Tourbillon, inspired by a Clous de Paris which is twisted, to give an impression of movement on the dial. This collection offers a classic and elegant finish with a thin bezel under the sapphire crystal that highlights the beauty of the dial. To focus even more on the magnificent spectacle offered by the Tourbillon, the crystal is domed in its center. The open back allows to admire the pure traditional decorations as the Côte de Genève.
